The Makayla Fund Annual Benefit
Supporting Teen Suicide Prevention and Youth Sports Scholarships
The Makayla Fund Annual Benefit proudly supports the vital mission of the Makayla Fund, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to teen mental health and wellness. Proceeds from this event will directly fund the implementation of the evidence-based SOS – Signs of Suicide Prevention Program in local middle and high schools.
Developed by the respected nonprofit Screening for Mental Health, the SOS program teaches students to recognize signs of depression and suicide risk in themselves and their peers, while training school staff to respond effectively and compassionately. It is one of the few programs nationally recognized for its proven ability to reduce suicide attempts among teens.
Thanks to your generous contributions, the Makayla Fund has already helped launch the SOS program in nearly 100 school systems, offering critical support to communities in need.
At the heart of the Makayla Fund is a simple but powerful goal: to save one life. Each new school trained and each student reached brings us closer to that mission. Feedback from SOS trainers confirms that lives are already being impacted — and potentially saved — because of your support.
Additionally, the Makayla Fund recognizes the role of athletics in promoting teen mental health. For students facing financial barriers, the Fund provides scholarships that cover both sports fees and equipment, ensuring that every teen has the opportunity to thrive through participation in team sports.
We thank you for being part of this essential work. Together, we are making a lasting difference.

A Heartfelt Thank You from the Guerriero Family
After eleven successful fundraisers, our hearts remain full of gratitude. The Guerriero Family is truly blessed by your continued presence and support. Thank you for joining us today as we honor the memory of Makayla, and as we work together to help students who may be struggling—whether with mental health challenges or financial barriers to participating in sports.
Your generous donations and participation in today’s Golf Tournament and Luncheon make a real difference. Because of you, we can continue funding life-saving suicide prevention programs in schools and providing scholarships that cover user fees and equipment costs for student-athletes in need.
We would like to extend a very special thank you to Richard “Dick” Guerriero for his tireless work in organizing this tournament. His dedication, time, and heart have been instrumental in making this event possible year after year. We are deeply grateful for all that he does to carry this mission forward.
We also offer our sincere thanks to all of our sponsors—their generosity sustains our efforts. Please consider showing your appreciation by visiting and supporting their businesses.
Though Tim, and Kellie, continue to reside in Arizona, we feel the strength of this community each year. Please keep them—and all of us—in your thoughts and prayers, especially as we remember Makayla today and every day.
Tim, Kellie, Amanda, Heather, Steve, and Vera, Patricia, Dick, and The Rest of the Guerriero Family and The Makayla Fund Board.
